Political Party Liberals Movement of the Republic of Lithuania

Liberals Movement of the Republic of Lithuania is one of the youngest political party in Lithuania, but a focused and consistent work has helped us to gain confidence in the people of Lithuania and conquer the Lithuanian political skies, as a major liberal political force. Integrity, honesty and perfectionism - is our main operating guidelines.

History
Liberals Movement of the Republic of Lithuania was established on the 25th of February year 2006. The initiators of the Party announced the Manifesto of the Liberals Movement inviting all people of Lithuania to safeguard the transparency and democratic governance, as well as inviting liberally valued people to create consolidated Liberals Movement. One of the initiators of the party Petras Austrevicius was elected the first Chairman of the party.

In the program of the party “THE REPUBLIC OF THE CITIZENS” newly established Liberals Movement committed to pursue for fair, educated and prosperous Lithuania.

Our vision is active civil and socially responsible society where private initiative and public institutions cooperate to ensure rapid economy growth and consistent rise of standards of living to everyone and enable citizens to manage their affairs by themselves as well as by establishing strong self-government and equal development of regions.

Our priority is investment into free and creative person by making optimum conditions to receive education so that in the future we would be able to compete, be publicly active and spiritually rich. We see the Third Republic where citizens influence responsible and transparent government, where child is taught, and patient is cured, thief is caught.

Currently
Liberal Movement brings together about 3,000 members, active in seventy branches all over Lithuania and abroad.

Eligijus Masiulis is the Chairman of the Liberals Movement of the Republic of Lithuania. Vice-chairman – Gintaras Steponavicius, Deputy Chairmen – Ona Balzekiene, Algis Kaseta, Rimantas Mikaitis and Arunas Staras.

Eleven parliament members joint to “Liberals Movement” group represent Liberals Movement in the Parlament of Lithuania (Seimas). Librals are one of the partners of the ruling majority of the Seimas and Government of Lithuania. Eligijus Masiulis, Gintaras Steponavicius and Remigijus Simasius lead Ministry of Transport and Comunications, Ministry of Education and Science and Ministry of Justice.

Among the fellows of the party is Leonidas Donskis now honestly representing Lithuania in the European Parliament.

In year 2009 for the next cadence elected leader of liberals Eligijus Masiulis highlights that the rapidly declining citizens‘ confidence in the country's power demands from the state of the ambitious new objectives: "We need to create victories. Victories in a human personal life, community life, victories of the state affairs. Wins cannot be brought by the former or current government in Lithuania. Only responsible, ambitious, professional young Lithuanian politics are capable of creating ones."
